If you’re thinking about studying a Master’s degree abroad, here’s a little peek into what a typical day looks like for me as a student in Madrid. I moved from Turkey to Spain in May 2024, and I’m now doing a Master’s in Digital Marketing with AI at BLC Spain, a business and language college based right in the heart of the city.
Between classes, content creation, Spanish lessons, and dancing – every day is packed, but in the best way.
Mornings: Coffee + Content
I usually wake up around 8am and start my mornings slow with a simple breakfast (fruit, yogurt or toast) . I work part-time as a content creator, so mornings are usually my most productive hours.
After breakfast, I head to my favorite coffee shop just around the corner. It’s cozy, has great WiFi and even better cappuccinos. Madrid is full of those great cafes. That’s where I do most of my editing, planning reels, drafting captions and mapping out content for TikTok or LinkedIn
Midday: Learning Spanish That Actually Works
One thing I didn’t expect when I started my Master’s was how much I’d enjoy my Spanish classes. As part of the year-long academic Spanish program included in the Master’s at BLC Spain, we have regular sessions designed specifically for international students like me.
What makes these classes different is how practical and fun they are. We don’t just sit and memorize grammar – we play games, do group activities and focus on real conversations that actually help in daily life. I find myself using what I learn in class right away, whether I’m ordering food, asking for directions or chatting with locals.
The Spanish course is run by LAE Madrid, and as someone who comes from a teaching background myself, I can confidently say they really know what they’re doing. Their approach is engaging, well-structured and built for people who actually want to use the language, not just pass a test.
And the best part? It’s fully integrated into the Master’s program, so no extra fees or scheduling headaches. It just fits into your week, naturally.
Afternoon: Master’s Classes That Actually Feel Useful
After Spanish class, I usually have lunch – usually something I prepped the night before, or I’ll just eat with friends at school if I forgot (happens more than I’d like to admit).
Then it’s time for our core Master’s classes. I’m enrolled in the Master’s in Digital Marketing with AI, which is taught entirely in English. That was one of the main reasons I chose BLC – I wanted something international, hands-on and up-to-date.
And honestly, the classes feel really useful. We don’t just study theory, we actually build marketing strategies, work in small teams, explore tools like ChatGPT, Canva and Google Analytics, and present real projects. The class itself is super diverse, so you’re constantly getting different perspectives and learning styles, which makes the group work way more dynamic.
After class, I’ll usually go to another café with a classmate to keep working on assignments, or just bounce ideas around. It’s intense but really rewarding.
Evenings: Flatmates, Bachata & a Bit More Work
Once I get home, it’s usually dinner time with my flatmates. We’re all internationals, so our conversations range from deep cultural discussions to debating the best tortilla in the city. It’s one of my favorite parts of living in Madrid, you’re never bored.
Then comes my personal highlight of the day: dance class. I started dancing years ago and I’ve always loved it, but being in Madrid has made it even easier to keep that part of me alive. I go to a local bachata class once or twice a week and it’s honestly so much fun.

If you want to see a glimpse of what that looks like, we actually shared a short video on BLC’s YouTube – check it out here. Whether you’re into dance, fitness or just trying new things, Madrid makes it easy to find your rhythm (literally).
After class, I might do a bit more content work or just chill. It’s a long day, but it’s always worth it.
Final Thoughts
Studying in Madrid has been so much more than just a degree. It’s a full lifestyle – learning, creating, connecting, growing. I’m doing what I love, living in a city that inspires me, and meeting people from all over the world. If you’re thinking of studying abroad and want a program that’s both practical and international, BLC Spain is a great place to start. The support is there, the courses are solid, and the lifestyle is everything you imagine (and more).
